We are Hiring for the 2020 Tour Boat Season!

We are accepting applications for the 2020 season, for the following positions:
Tour Boat Operator/Guides
Work Hours: July/August, availability to work in the shoulder seasons from May 1 – Thanksgiving is a strong asset, but is not mandatory. Approximately 12-20 hours per week in July/August.
End Date : End of August, or later.
Location: Oliphant and Sauble locations
Wages : TBD
As a Tour Boat Operator and Guide, you will be part of a team welcoming visitors to our region, conducting and leading a 1 ½ hour guided boat tour, and 1 hour boat rides on the Sauble River or in the Oliphant Fishing Islands, on one of our 6 or 12-passenger pontoon boats. We are looking for skilled boat operators to safely operate our vessels, who are friendly, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with the public. Successful applicants will be required to learn guiding material and share knowledge and our history and ecology on our tours. YOUR WORK WILL INCLUDE : • Safe operation of a 6 or 12-guest vessel and ensuring the safety of those onboard • Providing safety briefings for passengers • Having a love for the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and the Bruce and take pride in sharing it with our visitors • Having a flexible schedule and are available to work weekends and holidays. Required Certifications or intention to complete include: MED A-3, Radio Operator Certificate (marine) – ROC-M, and 2 day Marine First Aid course (minimum). Small Vessels Operator Proficiency Certificate – SVOP, is required to conduct tours on 12 passenger vessels.
Reservation Agent and Social Media Assistant
Work Hours : July/Aug – Availability to work in the shoulder season is desirable, but not essential.
As a reservation agent, you will be part of a team greeting potential passengers at our Sauble Reservation Booth, and on the phone. As the first point of contact for our customers, we are looking for a positive, cheerful person who enjoys working with the public, provides excellent customer service and understands their important role in our business success. YOUR WORK WILL INCLUDE: • Providing telephone and in-person booking and ticketing services • Assisting guests to select the tour boat experience that will most satisfy them • Providing information and answering questions • Using technology and booking software to take reservations and create bookings • Making social media posts • Solving problems in an environment that can change quickly. The successful candidate’s schedule will include work on weekends and holidays.
Start Date: June 20 (Flexible)
End Date: End of August or approx. Sept. 20 (Flexible)
Work Hours: Part-time hours, available to work on 1 or more days per week, afternoons.
Bruce Peninsula Boat Tours will be looking for a qualified lifeguard to assist with snorkelling tours in Oliphant this summer. (Certifications required: NL (National Lifeguarding). Responsibilities include assisting customers to fit and use snorkelling gear and assuring they are comfortable in the water.
